MTN Extends Media Innovation Programme Deadline to April 25

MTN Nigeria has announced an extension for the application deadline of its fifth Media Innovation Programme (MIP). The new deadline is now Saturday, April 25, 2026, providing an additional opportunity for media professionals and digital content creators across Nigeria to submit their applications.

The MIP is a comprehensive six-month, fully funded programme designed to foster innovation in media and digital content creation. This extension aims to ensure that more qualified individuals can benefit from this competitive initiative.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by MTN Nigeria’s Public Relations Manager, Lakinbofa Goodluck. The statement highlighted that the extension offers a further chance for aspiring participants to engage with a programme that is shaping the future of storytelling in Africa.

For the 2026 cohort, MTN Nigeria plans to admit 25 fellows, an expansion from the 20 fellows in prior editions. This increase is linked to MTN Nigeria's celebration of its 25th anniversary of operations in the country.

The Media Innovation Programme is seen as a parallel investment in the storytellers who influence how connections are understood and amplified within society, aligning with MTN's 25 years of connecting people. The programme underscores a commitment to supporting a dynamic and forward-looking media industry that evolves with the digital economy.

Established in 2022, the programme is a collaboration between MTN Nigeria and the School of Media and Communication at Pan-Atlantic University. It has since become a significant media capacity-building initiative on the continent.

The six-month certificate programme combines academic learning at Pan-Atlantic University with practical industry engagements. It also includes an international study visit to South Africa, featuring sessions at the University of Johannesburg and interactions with leaders in media, business, and policy sectors.

The MIP equips participants with essential knowledge, tools, and networks to lead and innovate in the rapidly evolving media and technology landscape. The programme has successfully built an alumni network within Nigeria's media industry, with past fellows advancing to senior positions and launching new platforms.

Practitioners from print, electronic, digital, and social media are eligible to apply. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to innovation, impactful storytelling, and professional development. Shortlisted candidates will undergo a rigorous selection process, with the programme set to commence in May 2026.

Applications can be submitted through the School of Media and Communication website at mtnmip.smc.edu.ng. MTN Nigeria serves over 87.3 million subscribers and is part of the MTN Group, which operates in 19 countries across Africa and the Middle East.
