LIRS Extends Tax Filing Deadline to April 21, 2026

The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has announced a further extension for the filing of individual annual income tax returns. The new deadline is now set for April 21, 2026.

This decision was communicated in a statement signed by Monsurat Amasa-Oyelude. The agency cited a surge in demand on its electronic tax filing platform as the primary reason for the adjustment.

The extension follows a previous move of the deadline to April 14, 2026. The increased usage of the LIRS eTax platform necessitated this additional grace period.

LIRS stated that the extension aims to provide taxpayers with more time to complete their filings without disruption. The agency emphasized that this extension is granted to accommodate taxpayers and enhance convenience while ensuring the integrity of submissions.

This marks the second extension for the 2026 year of assessment. Initially, the deadline was March 31, 2026, before being moved to April 14, and now to April 21, 2026.

The LIRS urged taxpayers to utilize this final extension to comply with their filing obligations promptly.
