FG, States, LGs Share N2.26 Trillion Revenue for April 2026

The Federal Government, State Governments, and Local Government Councils have shared a total sum of N2.257 trillion from the Federation Account Revenue for the month of April 2026. This distribution was finalized at the May 2026 Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting held in Abuja.

The total distributable revenue of N2.257 trillion comprised N1.260 trillion in distributable statutory revenue, N747.088 billion in distributable Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue, and N250 billion in augmentation funds. This figure is higher than the N2.036 trillion shared in April 2026 for the month of March 2026.

According to a statement issued by Mr Bawa Mokwa, Director, Press and Public Relations in the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, the total gross revenue available in April 2026 was N3.184 trillion. Deductions for the cost of collection amounted to N113.756 billion, with total transfers, refunds, and savings at N813.839 billion.

Gross statutory revenue for April 2026 stood at N2.378 trillion, an increase of N678.224 billion compared to the N1.699 trillion received in March 2026. The gross revenue from Value Added Tax (VAT) was N806.617 billion, a rise of N142.192 billion from the N664.425 billion recorded in March 2026.

From the N2.257 trillion total distributable revenue, the Federal Government received N787.351 billion. State Governments were allocated N772.360 billion, and Local Government Councils received N540.152 billion. Additionally, N157.254 billion, representing 13 percent of mineral revenue, was shared to the benefiting states as derivation revenue.

Further breakdown shows that from the N1.260 trillion distributable statutory revenue, the Federal Government received N580.942 billion, State Governments N294.661 billion, and Local Government Councils N227.172 billion. The derivation revenue of N157.254 billion was also distributed from this pool.

In the distributable Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue of N747.088 billion, the Federal Government received N74.709 billion, State Governments N410.898 billion, and Local Government Councils N261.481 billion.

From the N250 billion augmentation fund, the Federal Government received N131.700 billion, States received N66.800 billion, and Local Governments received N51.500 billion.

The FAAC report indicated that in April 2026, Companies Income Tax (CIT), CGT, SDT, Import Duty, Oil and Gas Royalty, and Value Added Tax (VAT) saw significant increases. Conversely, Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT) and Hydrocarbon Tax (HT) decreased considerably, while Excise Duty and CET Levies experienced marginal decreases.
