The Delta State Government’s drive to attract foreign direct investment received a boost on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, as international investors from Brazil, Malaysia, and the United States declared interest in partnering with the state. The announcement followed an extensive inspection of key industrial and agricultural sites during the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit.
The visiting delegation toured critical state assets, including the Kwale Special Economic Zone, the Kwale Gas Gathering Hub, and Phoenix Company. They also visited agricultural facilities at Skyward Resources Group in Oleh and Uzezi Farms in Oyede to assess the state's commercial viability.
Brazilian Agribusiness and Gas Power Plans
Roberto Fonseca, the leader of the Brazilian agribusiness delegation, commended the planning of the Kwale Special Economic Zone, describing it as a well-planned initiative for industrial growth. Fonseca revealed that Brazilian investors are actively planning capital deployments in natural gas power generation and cassava processing within the zone.
In addition to energy and processing, Fonseca stated that Brazil is prepared to support Nigeria’s broader food security goals through technology transfer. This partnership will focus on modernizing agricultural practices, specifically in livestock ranching and beef processing technologies.
Malaysian Interest in Oil Palm Expansion
The Malaysian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Aiyub Omar, confirmed that Malaysian agribusiness firms are targeting investment opportunities in Delta State's oil palm sector. Omar highlighted that Malaysian companies, equipped with global expertise in large-scale plantation management, want to collaborate with local stakeholders to expand production.
Furthermore, Dr. Shermal Perera, the founder of Agrinexus, disclosed that his organization is already working alongside Nigerian partners. The group is currently exploring additional expansion opportunities within Delta State's agricultural value chain.
Delta State Assures Investors of Security
Speaking during the inspection tour, the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, emphasized that the state deliberately paired investment discussions with physical site visits to demonstrate its operational readiness. Onyeme assured the delegation that the state government is fully committed to securing foreign capital and providing a stable environment.
Chief Eta Enahoro, the Managing Director of Skyward Resources Group, added that his agricultural enterprise has already benefited from Brazilian technical support. Enahoro expressed readiness to enter into deeper partnerships to scale up local operations and boost employment.
