ValueJet Airlines has launched VIKI, an artificial intelligence-powered digital concierge, becoming the first airline in Africa to deploy this technology on a large scale. The move is part of ValueJet’s broader digital transformation strategy, which builds upon the success of its internal AI assistant for staff, TOPS (Trusted Operations Policy Support).
VIKI is designed to provide passengers with smart, multilingual, and on-demand travel support. According to ValueJet, the AI assistant is accessible through popular messaging platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram. Passengers can use VIKI to book and manage flights, modify reservations, check in online, receive real-time travel updates, and access customer support, all within minutes and without needing to visit the airport or navigate traditional websites.
The AI is also voice-enabled, responding verbally to voice commands, thereby enhancing accessibility for visually impaired users. This feature addresses a critical need for inclusive travel options within the Nigerian aviation sector.
