The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has extended an offer of fully funded scholarships to 50 Nigerian students, focusing on petroleum and mineral studies. This initiative is part of a broader bilateral education and capacity-building effort between the two nations.

The announcement was made during a visit by the Saudi Ambassador to Nigeria, Yousef Bin Mohammed Al-Balawi, to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris. The Federal Government has lauded this gesture, describing it as a significant investment in Nigeria's human capital and a testament to the strong bilateral relations.

Idris also reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and ensuring the full implementation of existing agreements with Saudi Arabia, including pending Memoranda of Understanding in broadcasting and other sectors, for mutual benefit.

The Saudi Ambassador conveyed the Saudi leadership's appreciation for Nigeria's solidarity, particularly amid regional tensions. He highlighted that the scholarship, facilitated through the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, covers tuition, travel, accommodation, and provides monthly stipends, underscoring a genuine commitment to cooperation and investment in Nigerian youth.

Ambassador Al-Balawi also noted ongoing efforts to expand economic cooperation, with a particular focus on trade and investment between Saudi Arabia and Nigeria.
