The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has announced the completion of payments for the final one-month arrears of the N32,000 pension increment for eligible retirees under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS). This disbursement marks the conclusion of all outstanding arrears tied to the pension increase, which was introduced to enhance retirees' welfare.
Mr. Olugbenga Ajayi, PTAD’s Head of Corporate Communications, confirmed in a statement that a total sum of N1,734,592,000 was disbursed to 54,206 eligible DBS pensioners.
Specifically, within the Parastatals Pension Department, 25,804 pensioners received N825,728,000. Additionally, 28,402 pensioners under the Tertiary Education and Health Pension Department were paid N908,864,000. These payments for the latter group covered a 13-month arrears period, spanning from August 2024 to August 2025.
PTAD had previously commenced the implementation of this pension increment, supported by funding from the Federal Government. The directorate stated that with this final payment, all obligations concerning the N32,000 pension increment have been fully settled.
