Oluwatoyin Saraki Appointed NCR Nigeria Non-Executive Director

NCR Nigeria Plc has announced the appointment of Mrs. Oluwatoyin Saraki as a Non-Executive Director to its board. The company secretary, Bernice Anya, confirmed the appointment in a statement, noting that it took effect from June 11, 2026. This appointment is contingent upon ratification by the company’s shareholders at the upcoming Annual General Meeting.

The decision for Mrs. Saraki's appointment was made through a written resolution by the Board of Directors on Thursday, June 11, 2026. NCR Nigeria highlighted that Mrs. Saraki brings a robust combination of legal expertise, extensive international governance experience, and strategic leadership cultivated across the private, public, and multilateral sectors.

Mrs. Saraki has a distinguished career, holding various international advisory and leadership roles in institutions focused on health, governance, and development. She serves as the Inaugural and Emeritus Global Goodwill Ambassador for the International Confederation of Midwives and is a Special Advisor and member of the Independent Advisory Group of the World Health Organization Regional Office for Africa.

Her other significant roles include being the UNFPA Nigeria Family Planning Champion, the Save the Children Newborn Health Champion for Nigeria, and a Global Champion for the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood. She was recognized as a Universal Health Coverage Global Champion by Devex and is part of the International Steering Committee of ICPD25. In 2022, she was appointed the Inaugural Global Health Ambassador of the WHO Foundation.

Furthermore, Mrs. Saraki sits on the Board of Trustees of Seed Global Health and is a member of the Bayer Sustainability Council and the AstraZeneca Global Breast Cancer Care Council. In 2024, she was appointed a Champion of the World Economic Forum Global Alliance for Women’s Health and joined the World Economic Forum Global Activators Network on Women’s Health.

This appointment follows a positive financial turnaround for NCR Nigeria. The company reported a return to profit in the 2025 financial year, achieving a pre-tax profit of N196.04 million. This contrasts sharply with the N2.1 billion loss recorded in 2024. The company's improved performance was significantly boosted by a strong nine-month result between January and September 2025, where NCR posted a pre-tax profit of N237.9 million, despite a pre-tax loss of N41.9 million in the fourth quarter.

NCR Nigeria’s recovery was attributed to higher revenue, reduced operating costs, and the absence of exchange losses. This financial resurgence also positively impacted investor sentiment, evidenced by a remarkable 1,354% increase in NCR’s share price throughout 2025. The return to profitability and the addition of a new Non-Executive Director are expected to be key focal points for investors tracking the company's governance and financial recovery trajectory.
