The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, representing the Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi branch, has officially unveiled the MAN Power Development Company Ltd to coordinate practical energy solutions for manufacturers in the region.
The launch took place during the South East Industrial Energy Solutions and Investment Symposium held in Awka. The event was themed "From High Energy Costs to Affordable Power: An Opportunity for Manufacturers."
Integrated Framework for Industrial Power
Ada Chukwudozi, the Chairman of the Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi branch of the association, stated that the new entity has developed an integrated framework. This framework brings together the necessary expertise to help manufacturers transition to more affordable, reliable, and efficient energy solutions.
Chukwudozi, who also serves as the Chairman of Keystone Bank PLC, explained that the symposium offered manufacturers a direct opportunity to engage with partners, understand available technologies, and explore financing options. Following the sessions, manufacturers participated in the CEO Energy Transmission Clinic for preliminary energy assessments and practical implementation pathways.
The event also marked the official commencement of the MAN Industries Energy Adoption Programme. This initiative provides a structured pathway for businesses from initial assessment to full implementation. Juddy-Bolema Industries Ltd has already stepped forward as one of the pioneering manufacturers to key into the initiative.
National and State Support for Energy Transition
Otunba Francis Meshioye, the National President of the association, commended the initiative and urged manufacturers to adopt the project for the long-term sustainability of the sector. He noted that the program offers a practical path to lower energy costs and stronger competitiveness by bringing financing, engineering expertise, technology, and policy support into one coordinated framework.
Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, congratulated the organizers for addressing the high cost of energy, which remains a pressing challenge for industrial development. Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Chiamaka Nnake, the governor emphasized that manufacturing competitiveness depends heavily on access to affordable and sustainable power.
The governor highlighted that Anambra State has continued to invest in strengthening its energy ecosystem. These efforts include the operationalisation of the Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission, strategic infrastructure investments, and policies designed to encourage private sector participation in energy solutions.
Oweh Ono Mba Sam, the Managing Director of the newly launched power development company, alongside other representatives of manufacturing companies, also educated participants on the implementation strategies moving forward.
