The conflict, which began on Saturday, has already resulted in hundreds of casualties, with significant reports of explosions in Tehran overnight into Tuesday. The immediate impact on energy markets has been dramatic, with European gas prices experiencing a substantial 70% surge since Friday. This sharp increase underscores deep-seated concerns about the duration and potential wider implications of the ongoing hostilities.

President Macron emphasized during a nationwide address on Tuesday that the military deployment is a direct response to the significant disruption in oil and gas prices caused by the war. He highlighted the paramount importance of ensuring the security of global trade, especially in the current volatile environment. The Charles de Gaulle, France's largest and most prominent warship, is central to this initiative.
