Eight NGX Companies Set August Dividend Qualification Dates

Eight companies listed on the Nigerian Exchange have established their dividend qualification dates for August 2026. This schedule offers investors opportunities to secure shareholder payouts across various sectors of the domestic equities market.

The qualification date serves as the official cutoff to determine eligible shareholders. Investors holding shares on or before these specific dates qualify for the payouts, while subsequent buyers do not.

Telecommunications and Energy Giants Lead Payouts

MTN Nigeria Communications Plc proposed an interim dividend of N26.00 per share. Shareholders must qualify by August 20, 2026, with payment expected on September 7, 2026. The telecommunications firm recorded a 54.92% year-on-year revenue increase to N5.20 trillion in 2025, up from N3.36 trillion. The company returned to profitability with a profit after tax of N1.11 trillion, reversing a loss of N400.44 billion in 2024, and restored positive retained earnings of N400.40 billion from a prior deficit of N607.47 billion. Earnings per share stood at N53.07.

Seplat Energy Plc declared a combined dividend of 12 cents per share. This comprises an interim dividend of 5 cents (N68.43) and a special dividend of 7 cents (N95.80), calculated using the official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market closing rate of N1,368.50/$ on July 30, 2026. The qualification date is August 13, 2026, with payment scheduled on or around August 28, 2026. Seplat's 2025 revenue surged 150.39% to N4.14 trillion from N1.65 trillion, while profit after tax rose 16.22% to N241.58 billion. Retained earnings grew 9.52% to N342.41 billion, with earnings per share at N409.92.

Agricultural and Hospitality Sectors Reward Shareholders

Presco Plc declared two separate payouts for August. The company proposed a final dividend of N14.66 per share with a qualification date of August 7, 2026, and an interim dividend of N10.00 per share qualifying on August 14, 2026, payable on August 27, 2026. In 2025, Presco's revenue rose 59.34% to N330.64 billion from N207.50 billion, and profit after tax increased 56.00% to N121.35 billion. Retained earnings reached N176.08 billion, and earnings per share stood at N120.65.

Ikeja Hotel Plc proposed an interim dividend of N0.03 per share, qualifying on August 7, 2026, with payment on September 4, 2026. The hospitality firm saw its 2025 revenue rise 37.80% to N25.84 billion from N18.75 billion. Profit after tax grew 94.43% to N13.94 billion, while retained earnings increased 94.86% to N27.77 billion. Earnings per share reached N6.45.

Financial Services and Industrial Players Set Dates

VFD Group Plc proposed an interim dividend of N0.24 per share, qualifying on August 3, 2026, and payable on August 10, 2026. The investment holding firm reported a 13.22% revenue increase to N88.36 billion in 2025. Profit after tax rose 11.77% to N9.72 billion, retained earnings grew 55.58% to N16.71 billion, and earnings per share stood at N0.95.

Custodian Investment Plc scheduled an interim dividend of N0.25 per share, qualifying on August 17, 2026, with payment on September 8, 2026. The insurer's 2025 insurance service revenue rose 46.99% to N141.45 billion from N96.23 billion. Profit after tax increased 22.36% to N67.63 billion, retained earnings improved 48.22% to N143.44 billion, and earnings per share rose to N11.19 from N9.18.

The Initiates Plc proposed an interim dividend of N0.20 per share, qualifying on August 10, 2026, and payable on August 31, 2026. The environmental services firm saw 2025 revenue rise 150.86% to N11.70 billion, while profit after tax climbed 145.57% to N3.39 billion. Retained earnings increased 193.18% to N5.01 billion, with earnings per share at N3.81.

University Press Plc proposed a final dividend of N0.18 per share, qualifying on August 28, 2026, with payment on September 24, 2026. For the 2026 financial year, revenue rose 14.47% to N3.89 billion, though profit after tax fell 52.58% to N213.67 million. Retained earnings grew 7.26% to N2.20 billion, and earnings per share stood at N0.50.

July Dividend Payouts Provide Strong Foundation

The August qualification cycle follows several major payouts completed in July 2026. Dangote Cement Plc distributed a final dividend of N45.00 per share on July 2, 2026, following a 101.67% profit after tax increase to N1.01 trillion.

Aradel Holdings Plc paid a final dividend of N23.00 per share on July 30, 2026, backed by a 192.33% profit after tax growth to N757.34 billion. Fidson Healthcare Plc paid N1.50 per share on July 31, 2026, after profit after tax rose 124.68% to N9.88 billion. Other July dividend payers included E-Tranzact International Plc, Cornerstone Insurance Plc, BUA Foods Plc, and Chams Holding Company Plc.
