The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a reduction in the ex-depot prices of both Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) and Automotive Gas Oil (diesel). The price cuts are part of the refinery's efforts to make petroleum products more affordable for the Nigerian market.

Under the new pricing structure, the refinery reduced the price of petrol from N1,215 per litre to N1,165 per litre. This represents a N50 reduction. Meanwhile, the price of diesel was cut from N1,650 per litre to N1,570 per litre, representing an N80 reduction.

In a statement released on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, the Dangote Group explained that the price review is aimed at enhancing energy affordability and improving access to refined petroleum products. The company noted that the move supports economic activities across Nigeria during a period of high energy costs.

The refinery emphasized its commitment to providing high-quality, affordable petroleum products to the domestic market. The company added that it will continue to leverage its operational efficiencies to deliver value to consumers, businesses, and other stakeholders.

According to the statement, the refinery plans to pass on the benefits of improved operational efficiencies to consumers whenever market conditions permit. The facility continues to play a central role in strengthening Nigeria's energy security and reducing the country's reliance on imported petroleum products.
