CreditPRO Finance has officially partnered with the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) to advance environmental sustainability initiatives throughout Lagos State. This collaboration was recently highlighted by CreditPRO’s sponsorship of the Inter-Tertiary Institutions’ Environmental Summit 2.0 and its accompanying debate competition, held in Lagos.
The summit gathered students from various tertiary institutions across Lagos State, fostering discussions on critical environmental sustainability issues and potential policy solutions. A central feature of the event was the debate competition, where participants explored the theme: ‘Combatting Transboundary Pollution in Lagos State: A City-Level Intervention or National Effort?’
Sola Adeyiga, managing director of CreditPRO Finance Company Limited, addressed the attendees, underscoring the necessity of collective action to tackle environmental challenges and forge a more sustainable future. He noted that CreditPRO’s support for the summit aligns with the company’s commitment to its ESG goals.
Adeyiga emphasized CreditPRO’s belief that sustainable growth is achieved when economic progress is balanced with environmental stewardship and social responsibility. He further articulated that businesses must transcend a sole focus on financial performance, embracing the triple bottom line philosophy of profit, people, and planet.
According to Adeyiga, truly sustainable organizations are those that generate economic value while simultaneously contributing to social development and environmental preservation. The debate competition showcased the students' intellectual depth, research capabilities, and critical thinking, promoting meaningful dialogue on environmental governance.
Fajana Olamide Mary, a 300-level Mass Communication student from Lagos State University (LASU), was recognized as the overall winner of the debate. She received a grand prize of N2 million for her exceptional performance.
Babatunde Ajayi, general manager of LASEPA, commended all participating institutions and stakeholders for their dedication to environmental advocacy and awareness. He stressed the importance of actively involving young people in addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable practices.
