BUA Cement Board Approves Q3 2026 Results, Filing Due by October 30

BUA Cement Plc has moved a step closer to publishing its third-quarter results. The company's board of directors approved its unaudited financial statements for the period ended September 30, 2026, at a meeting held on Tuesday, October 20, according to a regulatory filing signed by Hauwa Satomi, the Company Secretary and Chief Legal Officer.

The approval is a procedural step ahead of publication: the statements still have to be submitted to the Nigerian Exchange before investors can see how the cement maker performed in the nine months to September.

Filing Due by October 30

BUA Cement said the approved statements will be submitted to the NGX through its Issuers' Portal on or before Friday, October 30, 2026. That date is also the NGX deadline for third-quarter filings, so the company is effectively confirming it will report within the standard window rather than ahead of it.

Until the filing lands, the closed period that began on October 1 stays in force. Directors and other designated insiders are barred from trading in the company's shares, and the restriction only lifts 24 hours after the financial statements have been filed and released to the public.

The approval notice contained no financial figures and gave no indication of whether earnings rose or fell in the quarter. The first look at the numbers will come with the filing itself.

The Bar Set by the First Half

Expectations are high because of what BUA Cement delivered in the first six months of 2026. Revenue for the half year rose 25.6% to ₦728.93 billion, from ₦580.30 billion in the same period of 2025, while profit after tax climbed 79.6% to ₦324.88 billion. Earnings per share nearly doubled to ₦9.59, from ₦5.34.

Profit grew much faster than sales because costs barely moved: cost of sales rose just 2.7% even as revenue climbed by more than a quarter, lifting the gross margin to 58.6%. A more stable foreign exchange environment also helped, with the company recording a net foreign-exchange gain of ₦16.57 billion in the half year. The third-quarter numbers will show whether that cost discipline held through the summer months, and how energy costs — the single largest cost line for cement makers — behaved in the period.

One of the Market's Heavyweights

BUA Cement is one of the largest companies on the NGX, with a market capitalisation of about ₦10.1 trillion. Its shares closed at ₦297.00 on Tuesday, October 20, and are up 66.4% so far this year, having started 2026 at ₦178.50.

That weighting means the results matter beyond the company's own shareholders: cement is one of the sectors investors watch for signals on construction activity and the broader economy. With the filing due by October 30, the market will not have long to wait.
