The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has commenced a nationwide campaign aimed at assisting investors in recovering their unclaimed dividends and inherited assets.
This initiative is part of the regulator's ongoing efforts to reduce the massive pile of unclaimed dividends in the Nigerian capital market and ensure that beneficiaries receive their rightful returns.
The campaign, which officially kicked off on August 10, 2026, will focus on sensitizing the public on the processes required to identify and claim these long-outstanding funds.
According to the commission, many investors and their beneficiaries remain unaware of their holdings, particularly in cases involving deceased relatives. The SEC is working closely with registrars and other market stakeholders to simplify the claims process for the public.
