The Nigeria Revenue Service Academy will unveil its digital Learning Experience Platform on May 20, marking a significant step towards modernizing staff training. This initiative aims to transition the Service from traditional, periodic classroom sessions to a continuous, technology-driven learning model.
Adeolu Akinyemi, the Academy’s director, stated that the platform represents a major shift to a modern learning ecosystem designed for continuous professional development, performance improvement, and career growth. The platform will deliver content through various engaging methods.
Content will be delivered via microlearning modules, scenario-based exercises, gamified experiences, and interactive simulations. This approach allows staff to learn at their own pace through short, practical sessions. The system also includes a digital reward economy with features like experience points, virtual coins, and digital badges.
Leaderboards will track and rank performance across different levels of the organization, from directorates to individual staff members. Akinyemi emphasized that learning will become a continuous, self-driven process that is practical, engaging, and rewarding, rather than a periodic obligation.
The platform will empower staff to manage their learning paths, monitor progress, and access training content on demand, regardless of their location. The Academy plans to use the platform to identify candidates for promotions, specialized assignments, and international opportunities based on competence scores and learning activity.
A digital reward economy, including a marketplace for redeemable benefits, is intended to further incentivize participation and consistent learning among staff. In preparation for the launch, the Academy will conduct sensitisation campaigns, onboarding sessions, pilot programmes, and demonstration exercises.
The platform is expected to enhance knowledge transfer, strengthen operational readiness, and improve overall service delivery. Akinyemi stated the objective is to cultivate a workforce that learns continuously, adapts quickly, and applies knowledge effectively. The new system is also anticipated to foster greater transparency and fairness in accessing opportunities by making learning achievements and performance visible across the organization.
The launch is part of the Nigeria Revenue Service’s broader agenda to build a technology-enabled, efficient, and globally competitive institution. It signifies a key milestone in the Service’s reform efforts aimed at modernizing tax administration and human capital development.
