Nigeria Ready for Foreign Investment, Interior Minister Assures Polish Envoy

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has stated that Nigeria is fully prepared to welcome international investments and forge strategic partnerships. This assurance was given during a meeting with a Polish delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski and Ambassador Michal Cygan, in Abuja.

Minister Tunji-Ojo highlighted that the current economic reforms are designed to enhance investor confidence and improve the overall business environment. He specifically mentioned the unification of exchange rates, efforts to manage inflation, and the removal of fuel subsidies as key measures to strengthen the Nigerian economy.

“Nigeria is ready for international investments and key partnerships. Recent economic changes the Nigerian government has made, such as unifying exchange rates, trying to control inflation, and taking away fuel subsidies are meant to reshape the economy and make investors feel more confident,” Tunji-Ojo stated.

He expressed anticipation for formalizing cooperation through official agreements and developing practical solutions beneficial to both Nigeria and Poland. The Minister described the visit as a significant milestone in the bilateral relations between the two nations, emphasizing the foundational work being done for a lasting partnership.

Nigeria is keen to deepen cooperation in critical areas such as border management, internal security, cybersecurity, innovation, technology transfer, and institutional capacity building. These areas represent significant opportunities for collaboration and mutual growth.

Deputy Prime Minister Gawkowski acknowledged Nigeria's substantial economic, demographic, and technological potential. He described Nigeria as a crucial partner for Poland's long-term cooperation objectives. “Nigeria is a nation with considerable economic, demographic, and technological potential, and Poland sees it as a key partner for long-term cooperation,” Gawkowski remarked.

Gawkowski further indicated Poland's readiness to support Nigeria with its expertise in digitalization, innovation, and infrastructure development. He extended an invitation to Minister Tunji-Ojo to visit Poland to further solidify the bilateral ties between the two countries.
