Flutterwave Processes Over 1 Billion Transactions, $40 Billion in Payments

African fintech giant Flutterwave has announced it has processed more than one billion transactions and moved over $40 billion in total payment value since its inception. The company's Founder and CEO, Olugbenga Agboola, shared these figures in a blog post reflecting on the company's performance and expansion.

Agboola attributed the company's growth to the increasing adoption of local payment methods by businesses and consumers across its markets. He highlighted that wallet-based collections recorded a significant 289% increase in transaction count over the past year, while the value of bank transfer transactions rose by 184%.

These figures underscore the growing importance of digital payment infrastructure in Africa's expanding digital economy. Bank transfers and mobile wallets are increasingly favored by consumers and businesses alike.

Flutterwave now supports payments in more than 50 global currencies, spanning Africa, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and North America. The company also secured new operating licenses in Senegal, Zambia, and Cameroon during the past year, expanding its regulatory reach across the continent.

Furthermore, Flutterwave has strengthened its partnerships with Circle and Polygon to integrate stablecoin capabilities into its payments infrastructure. This strategic move aims to enhance cross-border settlement services for businesses operating in multiple markets.
