ANOH Gas Appoints James Makinde as New MD

The board of ANOH Gas Processing Company (AGPC) has appointed James Makinde as its new managing director. This appointment is effective April 20, 2026, following the statutory retirement of Effiong Okon.

Makinde assumes leadership of AGPC, an incorporated joint venture between NNPC Limited and Seplat Energy. The company operates the ANOH gas processing plant, which has a capacity of 300 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd).

Before his new role, Makinde served as general manager, gas business at Seplat Energy. He possesses over two decades of industry experience, encompassing project management, asset management, gas commercialisation, and strategy.

Makinde has held various positions across the oil and gas value chain. His experience includes gas market development, gas-to-power solutions, renewable energy, and investment portfolio management.

He previously worked with Shell. His last position there was West Africa business development manager at Shell New Energies, now known as Emerging Market Power. In this role, he contributed to Shell's expansion into renewable and power investments across Africa.

Makinde is a recognized figure in Nigeria’s gas sector. He has served as chairman of the Oil Producers Trade Section (OPTS) Gas Sub-committee. He was also a non-executive director of the Gas Aggregator Company of Nigeria.

He holds an MBA from Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester. Additionally, he has a master’s degree in offshore and ocean technology, specializing in subsea pipelines engineering, from Cranfield University, UK.

His appointment coincides with AGPC's transition into full commercial operations. The company anticipates that leadership continuity will bolster its role in advancing Nigeria’s gas infrastructure. This includes supporting gas supply to both domestic and export markets.
