Upperlink Named System Integrator for Nigeria's e-Invoicing Platform

The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has appointed Upperlink Limited as the System Integrator for Nigeria’s national e-invoicing platform. This authorization will enable Upperlink to connect businesses and institutions to the NRS Merchant Buyer Solution (MBS) framework.

The company will support real-time invoice validation, secure transmission, and compliant digital tax reporting as Nigeria advances the phased implementation of mandatory electronic invoicing. Mr. Olusegun Akano, Managing Director of Upperlink, stated that the company's authorization reflects its strengths in enterprise technology, digital infrastructure, and scaled service delivery.

Akano highlighted Upperlink's experience, noting, “We have delivered secure, scalable, and easy-to-use platforms for business, government, financial services, and digital transformation initiatives. We are licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria [CBN] as a Payment Solution Service Provider (PSSP) and operate as an aggregator to the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS).” He added that these capabilities underscore their depth in regulated payment infrastructure and transaction technology.

Upperlink has developed solutions such as Upperlink Paygate, which aggregates payments across major card schemes and account-to-account channels. They also provide robust treasury systems supporting efficient financial control for large corporations and state governments. These offerings position the company to support the invoicing, reconciliation, and compliance workflows required by the NRS e-Invoicing regime.

The NRS has confirmed a phased rollout of e-invoicing targeting large, medium, and emerging taxpayers. The mandatory onboarding windows are structured based on annual turnover: above ₦5 billion, between ₦1 billion and ₦5 billion, and below ₦1 billion.

Mr. Opeyemi Oni, Chief Marketing Officer, emphasized the goal of the framework, stating that the NRS approval strengthens Upperlink’s commitment to “helping Nigerian businesses comply seamlessly with the new e-Invoicing framework while reducing operational friction, improving transparency, and enabling trusted digital record keeping across the eco system.”
