Transcorp Power Approves N4 Final Dividend

Shareholders of Transcorp Power Plc have given the green light for a final dividend of N4 per ordinary share. This decision was made during the company’s 13th Annual General Meeting held on April 27, 2026.

The approval was formally communicated in a filing to the Nigerian Exchange, signed by the company secretary, Atinuke Kolade.

The final dividend of N4 per share for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2025, totals approximately N30 billion. This calculation is based on 7,500,000,000 outstanding ordinary shares.

When combined with the interim dividend of N1.50 paid in August 2025, the total dividend payout for the 2025 financial year reaches N5.50 per ordinary share. This marks a 10% increase compared to the previous year.

At the current share price of N272.70, the dividend yield stands at 2.02%. The payout ratio is 45.12%, calculated against a net profit of N91.4 billion.

This improved financial performance is attributed to stronger profitability, with the company's pretax profit for FY2025 increasing to N120 billion from N113.2 billion in the prior year. Growth in the company’s top line significantly supported this increase.

Revenue for FY2025 climbed to N398.2 billion, up from N305.9 billion. Retained earnings on the balance sheet also saw substantial expansion, growing by 68.7% to N132.4 billion from N78.4 billion.

Peter Ikenga, Managing Director and CEO, highlighted that improved plant efficiency and fuel optimization were key drivers of the company's performance. He noted that available capacity increased from 505MW to 625MW.

Energy sales constituted 73.8% of FY2025 revenue, amounting to N293.8 billion. Capacity charges contributed N104.3 billion, representing 26% of the total revenue, with ancillary services making up the remainder.

In the first quarter of 2026, revenue was N94.5 billion. This figure reflects a slight moderation compared to the N105.4 billion recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year.

For Q1 2026, energy sales accounted for N73.2 billion of the total revenue, while capacity charges contributed N21.3 billion. Ancillary services made up the balance.
